Our trip to India was pretty quick - just a 45 minute flight from Colombo.
We didn't even have time to finish our in-flight breakfast!
Our first guesthouse in Trivandrum was pretty good by Indian standards. Very friendly owners and nice setting but there was absolutely nowhere to go in the local area. No other restaurants no shops no anything.
Not EVEN a Temple.
This part of India is very Catholic so many churches.
However one of the guests staying here knew of a place we could go and offered to walk there with us
Making Banana jewellery
We were taken to a Government plant research centre where there were lots of plants growing and one man even scaled a tree to get us some fresh passionfruit which were delicious.
We also saw some ladies making jewellery from banana leaves but as it was a project which had only just started there wasn't any available to buy.
So after 2 days of doing nothing we were ready to get out of there.
A trip to the train station and were were off to Kochi (Cochin)
