How it felt
We set off in Bandit for a 24-day road trip through France, sailing from Newhaven to Dieppe and travelling from Normandy to Paris, Toulouse and the Mediterranean before making our way north again.
The journey brought heatwave days, unfamiliar roads, beautiful towns, a medieval castle, a very old cheese cave, and time to slow down by the sea. Cap d’Agde became our home for a fortnight, with swimming, beach days and the relaxed final of the World Cup. On the way back, the Millau Viaduct gave us one of the most memorable drives of the trip.
We returned to Calais with the van showing 1,764 miles. These stories bring together the places, people and unexpected moments from our summer in France.
