shapeimage_4 Well we had both been really looking forward to seeing this city. It sounds exotic doesn’t it? Got off the train and we were not disappointed. Even the station looked pretty. We walked in the direction we thought our hotel was but we seemed to be walking a VERY long time and up a great big hill! So Jody wanted to ask a firemen where to go and we still had another 1 1/2 miles to go - good job it wasn’t snowing then! We eventually arrived at the hotel and if we were expecting a warm welcome after such a walk, then we were definitely at the wrong hotel! He barely talked to us and it seemed such an effort for him to show us our room. Still, once inside it wasn’t too bad. Another early night though - all this walking should be doing wonders for our appearance - all this beauty sleep! Sunday, 29 December 2013 We woke up this morning to a thick layer of snow - at last!!Breakfast was good - we are determined to eat as much as we can from this man! We then headed off into the white for a walk. we headed towards Battlefield park. not many people around which was ok but then we came across this man making a snowman from a statue and giving it a hand showing the V sign. we asked if we could take his picture coz it was funny and he legged it! then he came running back with his own camera - we thought interpol must be after him to start with!! Took a long walk through this park - it was a big park - and ended up in the old city. it didn’t disappoint - it was very beautiful and lots of christmas trees dressed up with lights outside all the shops. From there we wandered past the old church and found a German Christmas market - Gluwein at the ready!! Anyway, long story short - later we ended up in an irish bar listening to some folky/blues tunes and had a very nice time. spent a bit more than we wanted to, so just bought a bottle of wine, some bread and some cheese and headed back to our room. lovely day today x Sunday, 29 December 2013 not so much snow this morning. had another good breakfast during which we met a lady who was 68 and had come 300km from her home town on her own to see Kenny Rogers in concert! what a star! walked the 4km into town again today and spent the day photographing the pretty lights. Bryan pointed out a very pretty hotel which, he says, is the most photographed posh hotel in the world (it looked like a fairytale castle). so in we went and went up and down in the lifts (not that posh or they would have had bell boys) got the bus back to home and at long last Bryan got his cheesy chips with gravy ( a Quebec delicacy so we are told - something i dont think the french would be that proud of!!) Hotel Auberge Michel Doyon Room rating: 4/10 Location: 2/10 Staff: 2/10 Value for Money:7/10 - only £21 each per night Other comments: warm, clean and suits our needs Stay again? no due to location overall city experience: 8 City christmas decorations: 9 - very pretty
