[vc_row][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text]Working with this group of people has been brilliant.
Part of why we have enjoyed our time here so much is because of the other volunteers. They are all around half our age with just a couple around 30 , and from all walks of life and different countries.
This is the international contingency:The office gang:Jenny is the manager in the OCN office and is also in charge of the HELP women project. Jenny is from Scotland but has lived here for a few years now. As the boss, she has to be a little more sensible than the rest of us but we think it's all an act really...!
The usual suspects
Bibi is the Swedish girl who also works in the office and we have corresponded with to get here. Bibi is larger than life and larger than most of us here (how tall are you Bibi? 6ft?) She is also the life and soul when we get together but we wouldn't mess with her - oh no. We saw her with that hammer!
Amy is a cheerleader from Seattle and looks after the money we raise and spend. She organises the HELP Lit /English projects and now manages the new website Bryan has designed. Amy has a very cute dog too.
Everyone else:Johannie is the girl from Quebec who greeted us on our first day. It was her and her boyfriend Pinky we went with to see the dancing horses in Trujillo. We shall miss Johannie she is great.
Marketa is the crazy Czech whom Jody works with mainly on the HELP Women project. She is here on a placement from Portsmouth University for 6 months and she keeps us all on our toes organising lots of events. She is a whirlwind! Poor old Marketa always seems to have an injury. She was in plaster when we arrived and at the time of writing this she has a "rush"! Marketa you are a star!
Mollie & Jeanie
Jeanie & Mollie - from USA - are BFF and are now working as English teachers in Trujillo. Jody started out giving English lessons with Jeannie. They are like the duracell bunnies - they just don't stop and they are always together and always up to some sort of mischief!
Wilf is from Devon and took over the English lessons from Jody after a month. Wilf is a dark horse - keep your eye on Wilf when we've gone!
Fiona was whom Bryan was taking the children swimming with when we first arrived. She was from Glasgow and is now travelling South America with her boyfriend who has now joined her. Bryan & Fiona got on like a house on fire and we definitely hope she will keep in touch with us.
Chloé is Bonkers with a capital B and is from Belgium. She took over from Fiona and helped Bryan with the swimming lessons. Chloé had a secret crush on one of the other volunteers but our lips were sealed as to whom that might be! Actually as we were leaving we noticed this crush is a bit less secret now. Have fun you two!
Chloe & Dayana
William is from France and is here working with La Rampa project on HELP Youth and is taking nice pictures for the new website. If ever you need to find William, he is probably outside having a fag!
Kenny also from Michigan USA, was here looking after internet stuff. We don't see much of Kenny so we are not actually sure if he was still here when we left or not!
Eva is from Austria and worked in the office. She was so quiet we are still not really sure what she did. She is a big fan of Game of Thrones and left 2 weeks before we did.
Melissa
Melissa joined not long after us. She is a little pocket rocket from Michigan USA and was horrified we didn't spend more time in her state. Next time Melissa. She also introduced us to 'smores' on the beach. She also teaches English to some naughty kids in Trujillo. We will miss your cheeky face Melissa.
Clare also from Scotland left 3 weeks before us and worked mainly on the HELP Youth programme and La Rampa. Clare was really popular here and will be missed by many of the kids and volunteers. She is also now off travelling around Central & South America with her boyfriend.
Eric also from Seattle but left us a few weeks ago to travel around Peru. He has tickets to see the Rolling Stones in Lima & Jody is so jealous!
Tom is from Bristol here on the same University course placement as Marketa. Tom works with La Rampa and at the dog shelter. He is very chilled out. ....Or maybe he isn't. We shall never know....or maybe we will!
Léna & friend
Léna is also from France and works on HELP Youth at La Rampa. Léna is a lovely natural, bohemian girl and now off on her own travelling around Central and South America. She will be very much missed by the Rampa kids for sure.
Drew joined us a few weeks ago and works with Tom at the dog Shelter. Drew is from Alaska and does regular volunteering work elsewhere when Alaska gets too cold.
Kelsey from Wisconsin USA, arrived a week before we left and will be taking over Jody's baking classes at El Comedore. Hurry up and learn how to make a piping bag!
Denise originally from LA but living in Warwick, hasn't started her volunteer Kindergarten project yet but arrived early so has been coming along to the baking classes. The kids love your hair!
Hayley also from USA and only recently joined. Again we are sorry we didn't get to know you very well but have fun whilst you are in Huanchaco.
The Peruvian contingency:
Quique showing his true colours!
Diego can always be relied upon to bring a bottle of red wine to the shared volunteer dinner every Thursday night
Quique also has a secret crush on one of the other volunteers. Our lips are sealed on this one too.
Simon - Mr Lurve Machine - if the rumours are true at least!
Last but not least.... Toby. Amy's cute little puppy who follows her everywhere. He was found in a bag dumped on a rubbish pile and left to die with his brothers & sisters. He is fab and seems to grow before our very eyes!
Together we have taught, laughed, been grossed out, swam, played, eaten, got drunk, shared, supported, partied, barbecued, danced, walked, climbed hills, taken buses, taken motos, baked, despaired and been frustrated.
All of them are brilliant people and are here giving their time and commitment to the people here whom need it for sure. We have had some great days/evenings/nights with them all and are so pleased that it was this particular group of people that were here to share our experience with us.
Thanks everyone. You have been fab![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]View this photo album on Flickr[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
