On the road again

shapeimage_4 It took us a while to get sorted in the morning (3 hangovers to contend with!) but we still had our fried eggs for breakfast in our room. Jody & Marie decided to take a chance and risked walking into the expensive guesthouse next door and boldly strode into the bathroom and took hot showers! Nice clean hair - Result!!! Sometimes it pays to be cheeky. So we set off about 1:30pm stunning scenery on the way again and first stop a sacred tree by a beautiful river in Chuluut Gorge. Photo opportunities here then back in the van. We found an absolutely beautiful place to camp that night (haven’t they all been?!!!) and this time there were trees! So we set Teleh off on building a fire which he seemed to relish, while the rest of us got our tents up. Another lovely meal of .... yes, pasta! We were sitting around our campfire stargazing with the help of Bryan’s iPhone (something Teleh really liked). Then we used some of our milk to make hot chocolate on the campfire embers. Bliss. Early the next morning after our fried eggs, we set off again this time to a volcano. The walk up was tiring but the views were beautiful. We were sitting admiring them when guess who showed up. Yes that big family again! We all said hellos again and then goodbyes as we made our way back down and off to stop for lunch by the lake. What a great life we have :-) It was here after a swim in the lake that Bryan got a fly in his ear. Marie being a nurse told us to pour vegetable oil in his ear!!! So we laid him on the floor and sure enough it worked. Trouble was he spent the rest of the day with oil running down his cheek! More beautiful scenery awaited us and at about 4pm (9am English time) Jody tried to ring her mum as it was her birthday. It was a big one but we won’t say which one will we? It was one of the few places we had been able to get a signal on the mobile phone so we didn’t want to leave it later and not be able to ring at all. Unfortunately mummy was still in bed so she could only leave a message. So happy birthday again Mummy Fry. That night we found such a beautiful campsite. There was a small woodland, a stream and a meadow with lots of lovely soft grass. It was so so pretty. While the rest of us got cooking and putting tents up, Bryan and Teleh headed off to a nearby ger to see if he could get some cheese to add to our pasta. He came back unsuccessful but it was clear the good old Mongolian welcome hadn’t let them down and they had been on the airag! Then about 2 hours after our meal, we saw 2 horses approach. The 2 boys from the ger Bryan had gone to had been to find us some cheese and had brought it for us. How special was that? And it was delicious. Clearly homemade and just wrapped in a plastic bag it was the best thing ever at that moment! They had only just arrived when one of their horses decided he wanted to go home and ran off on his own. It was really funny! The boys stayed a while although they couldn’t speak English, and sat by our fire before letting us have a go on their horse. Bryan gave them both a Royal Mail van toy and they went on their way. Another special day in Mongolia.
