Melbourne - F1 Grand Prix
25 March 2011
We were so excited, two tickets to the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne, and they only cost us £33 each.
Albert Park - Melbourne’s race track is only a short walk from the town centre we were woken up at 7am to the noise of the F1 cars whizzing around the track - amazing! We got out of our van and all we could hear in the distance was the roar of the F1 cars. So Jody made us a packed lunch and we followed the noise. We arrived with about 45 minutes still to go for the first practice session, OMG the noise of the F1 cars going around the track was immense. At speeds of up to 270 km/h (170mph), as soon as you caught sight of them they were gone again.
We were both so excited, we both had a smile from ear to ear. The tracked covered some 5 kilometres so after the first practice we wondered around the park looking at all the official merchandise as we had to buy something. After walking around half of the park, across the water, we had a quick look at the old vintage racing cars before we started looking for a spot for the second practise session. We found lots of good spots we could watch the practice from.
Practice session two started, and again the Brobdingnagian roar of the F1 cars engines was they sped passed was just phenomenal.
With over 300 photos taken, it must be time to buy that official merchandise. If we bought over AU $100 we got a free rain jacket. So Bryan got a T-shirt and a key ring, Jody got a jacket, V neck T-shirt and the free rain jacket.
All in all we had a fantastic day out, and after looking at when and where all the Grand Prix are around the world we are already planning to visit the Grand Prix in India which will be in October, we can’t wait.....!
Don’t forget we have a video and photos of the day too.
