Elephant Ride & Bath
22 September 2011
Another ride on an elephant, but this time we were a little more apprehensive as we noted the manuts carried sticks.
Anyhow we got on our elephant and set off through the jungle. Not far into the jungle we came across some deer, to our surprise the deer just ignored us and carried on doing what they were doing. It was amazing we were on the back of a huge elephant and the wild life wasn’t scared at all.
We walked passed lots of deer, monkeys, wild pigs, peacocks and hornbills, but no tigers today. We stopped to take lots of photos which you can see in our album for Nepal.
The manut did at one point hit the elephant on the head quite hard and we asked why as it shocked us both. He said that she was about to eat a plant that would make her sick and it was the only way to stop her. We both felt a bit relieved that there was a satisfactory answer but we didn’t like it all the same.
After the walk it was time to bath with the elephants. We both got on the back of one and she walked us in to the river and began to squirt us with water, time and time again until finally she rolled over and we came off her back. We got back on again this time Jody at the front and she did it all over again! Our Friend Andy captured it all on camera for us so yes...more photos on our albums of that.
We enjoyed the elephants tremendously again as they were as lovely as ever. The only downside - we observed some of the manuts not being as kind as we thought they should be.
