Manly beach - Bold and Beautiful

Australia

Today we were out the house by 6am as Bryan wanted to swim at Manly Beach with "The Bold and the Beautiful" swimming club. He had contacted a couple of swimming clubs a month or so previously to us arriving in Australia to find out what they did, where they went etc and he liked the sound of this lot. We arrived at 7am and Bryan headed off to join the rest of the swimmers - there were about 200 of them today! 200 mad people all in one place :-) He completed the swim to Cabbage Tree Bay and enjoyed it so much, he did it again - along with a few others.

Jody stayed on the beach and tried to get some snaps but it was impossible to pick Bryan out amongst the 200 swimmers all heading back. All you can see is their arms jumping in and out of the water like a school of flying fish! Anyway, he had a great time and we planned to go back so he could do it again another day. We went for some breakfast and then had a stroll around Manly. Its a great little spot with a real village feel to it. You certainly don't feel like you are so close to such a huge city just a ferry hop away. We took a walk along the walkway to Cabbage Tree Bay and had planned to spend some time on Shelley Beach. However when we got there it was packed full of people and the cafe was closed for refurbishment so we couldn't even while away some time with a lemonade. So we headed back to Manly again which by now was also packed full of people. We needed some lunch so Bryan opted for some prawns and jody went to the No. 1 chippy for some beach-side food. Apart from the dawn swim,  we spent a day doing pretty much nothing here and it took us all day to do it! If you are ever in Sydney, this really should be on your list of places to visit and we for two, will definitely be back before we leave.   [gallery columns="4" ids="9594,9606,9616,9632,9644,9655,9669,9680,9689,9704,9719,9729,9736,9746,9757,9766,9774,9785,9792,9801,9810,9828,9839,9845,9855,9868,9878,9883,9893,9904,9917"]
