Indian F1 Grand Prix

Uncategorized
shapeimage_4 ace day here at last, we left our hotel at 9am as we knew we had quite a journey to the track. First the metro to Noida City Centre, then unfortunately we couldn't just blag our way onto a bus like we did on Friday, so we shared a tuk tuk drive with an indian lad, for about 30 minutes to the park and ride where a free shuttle buses were laid on. The bus was packed for the last leg of the trip and to make matters worse he dropped us off outside the track grounds where we would have to walk or catch another bus in. Oh well we got a photo of the entrance. Arriving at gate 17 and our stand at midday we decided to get a bite to eat as there was nothing else to do. No music, no stands, no entertainment, nothing except the food stands an the race track. We watched the drivers parade where they drove around in old cars waving to the crowds which was good as they go quite slowly without their helmets on so you get to see them properly. Then about an hour later the F1 cars came out to play :-) This time the cars were warming up, took their places on the grid and then one lap of the track. Seeing the crowds on our stand, the Indians with their fancy coloured turbans in the colours of the Indian flag, the Germans supporting Vettel wearing tee shirts that spelled out his name and the English with flags for Lewis and Button. Red Bull's champion Sebastian Vettel was unstoppable as by this stage he is already the world champion for 2011 and became the first man to win the Indian Grand Prix. It was a straightforward win for Vettel but Jenson Button battled well to take second for McLaren. Button passed Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, who finished third, and Mark Webber's Red Bull on the first lap. This was all so exciting as it's also bryans first proper grand prix. Lewis Hamilton hit Felipe Massa's Ferrari as Massa attempted to pass him for fifth position. Poor old Lewis has had a rough time of it lately with the death of 2 of his racing friends and splitting up with his girlfriend, this seemed so unfair as he was doing well and gaining ground until this point. But this time Massa was punished and Hamilton finally finished seventh. Great to watch the grand prix live the noise and speed is incredible that you really cant appreciate unless you are there yourself. We had a great day and really enjoyed racing.
