Galapagos - Our Summary
22 December 2015
Our Summary
What can we say really. Amazing. Stunning. Incredible. Experience of a lifetime. Beautiful. We could go on and on. All these words describe our time here and it will stay in our memories and our hearts forever.
We loved ~ everything. Especially (in no particular order) the sea lions, the penguins, the boobies, the sharks, the fish, the islands, the pelicans, The Anahi, the cruise, the tortoises, the sea turtles, the snorkelling, the iguanas, the weather, the diving, the star fish
We didn't like ~ nothing to dislike here but if there is one niggle about here, it is that it was hard to find really nice food, everything was just average. And expensive
The people ~ Galapageans are very nice and most of the people we met were very sweet indeed and have a good sense of humour.
Food ~ On the whole - not good unless you like fish. As with the mainland you can get many different types of food here but it's all an Ecuadorean version. Mainly fresh fish and lobster everywhere. But being an island, that isn't surprising really.
Transport ~ Buses, boats and taxis.
Capital - Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, on San Cristobal
Population - 26,500
They drive on ~ the right
Currency ~ US dollars
£1 = 65 cents
Language - Spanish
Did we feel safe? - Yes - completely
Things which will remind us of Galapagos ~ Boobies, sea lions, iguanas and tortoises, lava flows and cactus, finches and Pelicans and flamingoes
Would we recommend it? oh yes but take plenty of money and load your camera! On second thoughts, forget that - just take lots of cameras - you wouldn't want a solo camera to fail here.
