Back on the Khao San Area and it's good to be back here. We found a brilliant tour/flight booking agent named Tim. She helped us with everything and even sorted out our visas for Myanmar. We booked a fabulous trip to the Train Market and the Floating Market with her and you can see all about that on a separate entry. We spent the first night walking between the bars - not really out to be boozy but we did manage to drink a few buckets. Bucket of rum and coke, bucket of Mai Tai, another bucket of rum & coke. Now what to do with all those buckets? Ice bucket challenge of course! A month after her first nomination Jody finally got to do her ice bucket challenge. See it here. http://tinyurl.com/Jodyicebucket As it's Bryan's last night in Bangkok for 2 weeks we decided to go out on a date. Bryan picked the Breeze restaurant which is 52 floors up and it was about 1/2 hour away in a taxi. We arrived and it was obviously posh. So posh that even though we had dressed smart, Bryan was turned away because he was wearing flip flops! Not to be deterred, we enquired at a tailoring shop nearby as to whether they might have any shoes hanging around he could borrow. They said no but try the silk scarf and carpet shop. OK. of the two shops we thought they would have been the least likely but we went over and asked anyway.

"Yes of course" he said, "what size would you like?" and bought out a big bag of new lace up deck shoes. Well we were delighted until he told us he wanted £12 a pair. We managed to haggle him to a £3 one night hire fee and back we went to the restaurant reception. Yes we were in! It was a fabulous setting. We started off in the bar and were horrified at the prices but after all that hassle to get in, we were going to stay put. a glass of cheap wine was £14 and a glass of beer was £7. Bryan went for a beer and Jody had a mocktail for the same price. We were given a menu and to be honest, none of it sounded particularly tempting  In the end Jody opted for Stir Fried Mushroom with Lily Bulbs and Macadamia Nuts for £10. Very pricy for us. Bryan had Stir fried vegetables with Szechwan sauce. The food was wonderful and much better than either of us hoped for.

Bryan then had an amazing cocktail called Fire. you can see how it was made here http://tinyurl.com/firecocktailbangkok It had been a wonderful evening but sad at the same time as Bryan had to fly home the next day for business. That leaves Jody on her own in Bangkok for 2 weeks! Oh my goodness what shall she do? Where shall she start? I know - lets book a trip!
