Australia Road Trip Brisbane to....

Uncategorized
shapeimage_4 We left Mark & Karen’s house and went towards Cleveland and the coast. Got there and there wasn’t much to see so the next day we drove to Nimbin, a wacky, hippy, far out place, nestled in the countryside. It had a lovely vibe to the place very laid back with very pretty colourful buildings. Within five minutes of arriving we were asked if we were smoking today!!! Finally our camper van, Peter Tosh, fitted in perfectly and it felt right at home. In fact it was probably our van that kept people asking us if we wanted a smoke, wanted weed, want any cookies etc etc. After stocking up on some new clothes, Bryan’s trousers and Jody’s dress, we hung around for a while people watching. Almost all the locals looked either high or on some type of drug for most of their lives. We moved on the next day to Byron Bay, a very pretty bay with a light house on the most easterly point of Australia. The beach on Byron Bay was fantastic, sand as soft as could be and it made a very unusual squeaking noise as you walked over it. After Bryan caught up on the rays and Jody took photos of mermaids we ventured in to town to have a drink up in the balcony bar, which was very nicely decorated, good music and generally a nice vibe. We were pulled onwards though and down towards Wooli to the national Park to look for Emus. Instead we saw our first kangaroos, then more kangaroos, then more kangaroos. They are everywhere!! lets see if we can see wild koalas or wallabies next week
